Why Web 2.0 sites are good for traffic (and backlinks)

Alexa rankings prove why web 2.0 site traffic will help your SEO efforts.

London traffic lights - t2i

Just did some research in looking through the top 500 Alexa sites. Not too surprised to see all the more recent approaches to getting both backlinks and traffic here.

While backlinks have been devalued lately, incoming traffic is more valuable. Some studies of how things work showed that many are going to Doc Sharing and Video sites to get their traffic up. (And use of embedding gives traffic to those sites, which raise their rank and so return with more traffic...)

As I saw what was unfolding, I kept track to see how it panned out. Now you can see that there is a definite trend happening...

How to Build an Online Business in 7 Steps

7 Principles of Building an Online Business.

7 Simple Principles to Start Your Online Business - An Online Millionaire PlanThere is a lot to say about these. In fact, they'll fill a book or several if you let them. Each of the principles in turn has - many times over. What we are interested here is in the underlying basic principles - which in our specific case act as a system. Meaning that the individual parts working in syncrony will create a much greater effect than in acting alone. However, no one that I know of has published this system as such - and so you are one of the few who are now able to take advantage of this knowledge.

I talk about marketing here, and little of the nuts/bolts of business (making payroll, supply/demand, inventory control, et al.) But the basics, sheer simplicities, of building an online business are all covered. This essay defines that starting point to building online business success - or a review of perhaps why your success hasn't yet arrived...

Let me give you an overview of these principles - so you can see and utilize their interaction:

How to Market Your Book Online - In Spite of Amazon

Getting your book published without begging for reviews - a web-guy's approach

Just as a matter of record, something I'd like to bury in a blog post somewhere, but so I can say "I told you so."

Most of the theory of this is found over in "How to Build Your Own Honest Online Business." This also builds on what I laid out in "Just Publish! Ebook Creation for Indie Authors." Having spent a few months sorting out the various fictional narratives which are sold as Gospel for Authors to market their own book (see my Storify posts), I can proclaim with impunity that Amazon's review system is an arbitrary hoax and a time-burner.

The question comes: what do you use instead?

Trust is a two-way street with no traffic signs

How do you get your clients to trust you? Trust yourself, first.

photocredit: http://tattootheflesh.tumblr.com

"You can't get without giving." This goes back to Napoleon Hill's "Think and Grow Rich" but also goes back through the Bible's Golden Rule to the oldest known verbal traditions.

One phrasing of it is, "Energy flows where attention goes."

There is also a unique version of it, ascribed to the Emerald Tablet - "As within, so without."

I can name off-hand at least a dozen more authors who have talked about this. The key thing is to put this to work in your own life. Any problem in attracting customers and clients to any business is whether that business owner (and every single employee in it) trusts themselves enough to give away trust.

These old principles survive and have use today as ever, because they describe natural laws which exist independent of time.

Whatever you are in yourself is what you will create around you.

Truly successful, long-standing businesses thrive, survive, and prosper because they are completely involved in the success and survival and prosperity of their clients.

To do this, they first have to let go of any type of "death wish" or self-destructive attitudes they may have been carrying around. (Like being critical of others in any form or fashion.)

Because you will create in your clients those same attitudes - or they will simply move away to no longer have to deal with that.

While some people deal with "relationship marketing" you have to know that it is all based on the point of being in a good relationship with yourself, first. You have to be at peace within as a starting point.

This is why self-improvement books continue to be popular.

Mike Dillard, self-made millionaire at age 28, ascribes this to the "alpha marketer."

Learn to trust yourself and you'll be able to trust your clients. When your clients see you trust them, they will trust you.

Treat your clients like an animal queued up for slaughter, and you'll have constant turnover in  your lists, and be always expending more money to get new customers instead of servicing the existing clients.

Improve your own life and then you can help others improve theirs.

PS. I've got a ton of books at Midwest Journal Press which can get you on your way. Let me know, and I'll send you any free review copy you want of what I have.

It's official - Coffee Shop Millionaire is now a Scam

Anthony Trister's Coffeeshop Millionaire has emptied their last cup.

Only dust and cobwebs hanging out there now. And a cheesy info-mercial about how to buy and flip websites. (Like a blinking neon light above the entrance to a nearly- shuttered old motel in the warehouse district outskirts.)

Seriously. Now it really isn't worth the money to get a membership. Because almost all of the videos which used to be there don't work any more. The very slight reason I said it was worth the small investment is gone, leaving only the dregs in the cup-bottom.

And I'm sorry to say that my predictions were right.

Just checked in after a year of my wandering around and making honest money online. And found the place is now a shell of it's former self.

There's no "VIP" section anymore. Only tells you "not authorized" when you sign up.

Meaning that Anthony Trister and all of his cronies have all packed it up and taken their fast thousands - and left. Only leaving some hot-links which may or may not work. I'm surprised the sight is even up - but as I linked above, it's only the support which is still working, approving refunds.

What have I found that did work?

Mike Dillard and his Magnetic Sponsoring.

While this is aligned toward network marketing, it will actually give you some good basics on starting a business with a "funded proposal".

And Dillard's company has been around since 2005 or so (it's not a fly-by-night like Trister and his t-shirt ensemble.) That is the real measure of whether a company is a scam or not. Consider the top ten MLM companies out there - the acid test is if they've been around 10 years or more. These companies open and close like loose shutters in the wind.

(As did Anthony Trister. He's again disappeared into the backwaters he came from. Try looking him up on the web and you'll only find a very skimpy Facebook page. Lives in San Diego. Takes exotic vacations. Nice flash in the pan. The question is - what's he done for anyone lately...)

Your going to have to check out Mike Dillard for yourself. Seems to be the real deal. Plenty of people vouch for him. And you can start for free with his 7-video bootcamp...

PS. What Mike is working on recently is really amazing. Check out his recent webinar by clicking here.

Pimping for Marketing Lead Generation

How to work the Pimps in Social Media

pimps in social media exist - for real.Pimp: anyone who uses someone else's work to make a profit without any return.

Social Media Pimp: content-hungry sites who get their popularity by being vanity publishers and support themselves by running paid ads - and/or their own mailings to your email about how you should upgrade to paid hosting on their servers.

The "free" blog platforms simply are pimping their authors in order to do lead generation for their advertisers.

You may think I'm being harsh, but hear me out -

Vanity publishing is where you pay for someone else to publish your material. In the old days, (like Thoreau), you'd wind up with a stack of books in your house that you'd have to sell to make your money back. In our modern times, sites like Wordpress.com and Hubpages (to name a few) will host your essays for free as long as they can use them to make money by running ads. Now, if you in turn could make money by promoting your own work, then that would be OK - but there's a twisted line they follow to do this.

Most of the free blogging sites have a real problem with hosting anything as long as they can make money from with their ads. Meaning they take your heartfelt prose and accept it unless you link out to the sales page where someone can buy whatever it is that you're heart-felt-prosing about.

However, they rain down all sorts of *stuff* on you if you try to directly promote on their sites. Ostensibly, it's because people complain about it (and Google lowers their rankings) but any marketer will tell you that it's because you are "homing in on their turf". (Unlike Amazon, which is way more popular, as they simply host your products and ads for a fee.)

Wordpress.com seems the worst at this, right behind Hubpages. If you link out to any direct affiliate page, you're either labelled a spammer (minimally) or more commonly outright banned and suspended with no warning. If you are only labelled, then it's not so bad - because you still have your blogs around - if you can still get to them.

But anyone working affiliate marketing has to have their own site and then link these freebie blogs to it.

Which means that the reports of 40% of various social media are simply spammers.

Wordpress, like Hubpages, over-reacts and makes everyone jump through hoops if they want to promote a product which will actually help somone. Consider this article by Lee Ogden on "Wordpress.com and SEO Blogs - Love or Hate?" He goes into the point that wordpress.com is in the enviable position of being indexed within an hour by Google. So anyone who's got a lick of sense will be posting to WP.com in order to get backlinks.

The really funny thing is that the serious entrepreneurs and socia media marketers are a step ahead of these guys. What they do is to use WP.com and other free blogs to get their own sites ranking well in Google - as long as they stay within the pimping guidelines of that free platform.

What does this really mean for Internet/Affliate Marketing?

The solutions have worked themselves out over the past few years:
  1. Write informative articles which link in turn to
  2. Review articles you write on your own host which drive traffic to
  3. Your own or the Affiliate Landing/Sales pages
Note the breakdown on the above:
  • Your own content is written in a non-salesy way, but links to your own blog and review pages.
  • Your own content is properly SEO'd so that it is in turn ranked highly by Google (as the 'bot's can make easy sense out of it).
  • Landing/Sales pages are never more than 2 clicks away from a WP.com blog entry.
So this is pretty simple.

A. Get hosting (like Hostgator) and a domain name (from GoDaddy).
B. Then learn how to do simple mini-sites which you can upload by FTP and keep updated. (I'd recommend wordpress as a free blogging platform, but they do lousy stand-alone landing pages, as the overhead of keeping that many databases running can tank your server.)
C. Find the various autoposting sites like Posterous and have them post your content to the various blogs for you. (Just make sure you have several email addresses in case one gets banned by accident.)
D. Make sure these posts are as well SEO'd as you can and all link back to those static review-type landing pages you created on your own domain.

As you post your content and re-publish it, more and more people see it and it gives you backlinks. The backlinks (along with some of the communty work which exists on these free sites - recommended, what's new, and so forth) will get Google's attention so it will come and scrape your site for links.

Any sort of success with the above simply continues this scene - so the pimps become the pimped, after a fashion. Although, if you are writing really great content and sharing versions which the free blogs can use in turn for free (to get their ad revenue up), then everyone wins along this line.

That is what we are after, anyway - creating enough value that anyone can win in Internet Marketing.

Being an Online Millionaire is Natural

It's really just too simple - anyone can (and everyone should) allow their native millionaire abilities to rise to the surface.

If you want to create an online e commerce presence, use a proven site builder which has the ongoing experience which started when the Internet first developed the World Wide Web:

Ken Evoy's Site Build It!

Next, to help you with your market research (although Ken's system does a great job), I'd suggest you check out:

Chris Malta's WorldWide Brands.

But the bulk of work in commerce or e-commerce is in marketing. And while you get a good grounding from Evoy, you need to be in all the social networks which apply to your products or services - not only that, but you should harness the power of distributed social network marketing:

Charles Heflin's Synnd.

The fourth leg of this chair you sit in is being prepared for legal defense - when you know what a lawyer has to do to win, then you can either get a winning lawyer or defend yourself:

Dr. Frederick Graves' Jurisdictionary.

But you need to be able to put all this together. You need to know the melody, not just the words to the tune. This is key. For this, go to someone who's made a specialty of just helping people develop and use their millionaire mindset to find their native wealth - and manifest it around them as a regular habit in life:

T. Harv Eker's Millionaire Mind Intensive.

- - - -

Look, the point is that I want you to have all the success and abundance you naturally are able to.

The point of all the research I've done, and the reason I've done all this writing, editing, and publishing (as well as the designs) for all these books - it for that one simple reason...

The Golden Rule. People are treated the way they treat others. My success and prosperity is tied to yours. We will both succeed together better than either of us could succeed on our own. And we both are sitting on native ablities and talents far in excess of anything we are using.

So if you are serious about building or expanding your small business online - then you need to follow the above 5 steps and sign up for all the programs you think you could use.

And if you think you are just being scammed, then go to this "Get Your Self Scam Free" site where you can have free lessons at my expense.

Here's to our bright future.

Get Backlinks to Raise Web site Traffic

Just because you built that glorious, cutting-edge, user-friendly website - it doesn't mean anyone is ever going to find it. Even if you announce it to search engines, it doesn't mean they are even going to index your site - I've seen this happen more than once. And guess what? Those site owners can never make money online.

The secret to traffic appears to be backlinks. Other people can tell you it's tweets from Twitter, or mentions on Facebook - but what are you really looking at? Those tweets and Facebook posts have what?

Backlinks.

If someone simply said "go out on the web and look for someone named Joe Schmoe who has a website" - well, you just guessed it. Chances are next to none.

Even if you only had a single page which had an offer to buy your product - you'd get tons of traffic if you had backlinks out there so people could actually find your site.

A lot of people will create a wonderful web site or webpage and expect that visitors will come across it. They invest the bulk of their time in building a set of gorgeous web pages and even setting up probably the most amazing sales funnel for their clients, then they will merely sit and wait for the flood of traffic to arrive... And it never does.

What are Backlinks?

Okay, so what are back links? Backlinks are links pointing to your web site and to your internal pages. These are recognized as inbound links or backlinks. These links can originate either from other people's web site, web directories, article submission sites, feeder web-sites such as Squidoo or Hubpages, forums, blogs and even from internal linking in your very own web site.

Without having to learn all about search engine optimization (SEO), consider that getting your site found easily in the search engines is like a three-legged stool. Having incoming keywords helps that stool stand up. And that is what we are talking about today. (The other two, themeed/optimized pages and popularity, are subjects for later articles.)

Google and other search engines rely on backlinks to tell them the quality of your site and its relative meaning, along with other factors. The more high-quality (relevant) in-coming links, the more they say your site can be trusted and will elevate your rankings. The higher your rankings, the more likely people will click on your site when it comes up in searches.

What your site needs it good quality backlinks in order to 1) get into the search engine rankings at all, and 2) climb your way to the first page (where the majority of clicks occur).

Good quality Backlinks

Good quality backlinks contain the exact search phrase you designed your site to support. Suppose you had a site which sold a new brand of dog collar. So you want incoming links to have the phrase "dog collar" in them. Google would look at all these pages and say to themselves, "Oh, it's obvious other people think his site is about dog collars," and then give you better rankings for people looking that search term up in their browsers.

And so you look up all the key search phrases (also known as keywords) which your product has to offer, and then get backlinks into your page which offers that product. Or, at least that's the simple view of it.

Now we could go into an intense amount of description how to pick out keywords, the competition problems and so on. Again, that's another article. Let's just say that you did your homework before you built that page and know the key phrases people use when they look for products like yours. (And don't worry. If you haven't done this, it can be done starting now and then just tweak your page a bit - not a total re-design.)

Your objective really should be to rank on page one of Google's results for every main keyword. The strategy is to keep developing incoming links until you are on page 1 for the top 15 key phrases on your list. Only then would you consider adding additional search phrases to target.

Site Traffic From High Page Rank Web-sites

Initially, inside your link building campaigns commence by acquiring backlinks from high page rank web-sites. High page ranked internet sites get a lot of traffic and they get spidered by the search engines far more regularly. Your traffic will consist of people following those in-coming links directly and also from search engines.

To get backlinks, good quality backlinks, links along with your search phrases in them, you are going to will need a marketing campaign. Round up your keywords and phrases, discover the high page rank web-sites you want to get backlinks from and go to work.

The common approach for backlinks is not to just contact the author of that big-ranking site and ask for a link if you link to them. Search engines can quickly figure this out and discount these. Three common ways to do this are to:1)  add comments on their site with your URL, and perhaps a keyword-linked phrase in the body of your text, 2) Writing articles for article directories which have links in their biography section, 3) Creating feeder pages on sites like Squidoo or Hubpages, which link with your keywords right back to your site.

Freelance Writing, eBay, and Blogging as Online Income Sources

In today's post, we bring you this article by Anthony Trister - who developed the Coffee Shop Millionaire brand. He discusses some online income sources which may or may not be familiar to you: Freelance Writing, eBay auctions, and Blogging.

The great benefits (as Anthony exhibits) is no dress-code, commuting, or set schedules.

Now a disclaimer: none of these by themselves will help you to really replace your day job. These three ideas are simply ways to get started. You'll still need to know the background data about how these various strategies can actually start generating money for you.

I offer free lessons for An Online Sunshine Plan - where you learn the nuts and bolts of Honest Internet Marketing. This was written after being badly scammed on top of a couple of years of trying to learn online promotion and sales. I've been where you are now, and worse - believe me. And before you dive in and sink a lot of time or money into "getting rich quick", you should really test the temperature of that water. Again: free lessons for learning honest Internet marketing.

Oh - just remembered - I also have free lessons on how to get started blogging. Completely self-paced and no email sign-up needed.

Additional caveats:
  • Freelance Writing is another job. It isn't passive income. So realize that if you are trying to supplement your income with this, it is really a second job - so you have to budget your schedule accordingly.
  • eBay isn't what it used to be. I did substantial research into eBay and found out that it's now mainly for: big box stores, collectors / hobbyists, and lead generation. Getting started with your own eBay store takes most people years - and you're paying monthly rent to eBay meanwhile...
  • Blogging is over-rated for making any income. Again, to really rank, you have to love writing - or it's just another job. Most people use blogs to generate leads for their mailing list, and affiliate sales. Adsense and Amazon ads haven't made any millionaires (except for the owners of of those companies.)
- - - -

I'm going to show you three quick and dirty ways to make money online, by working as much or as little as you want, from anywhere in the world, whenever you choose...

Freelance Writing

Online freelance writing jobs are plentiful, if you know where to look and can distinguish the legitimate opportunities from the potential scams.

Most people don't have a clue about the wide variety of writing opportunities available to them all over the Internet. These include writing simple articles, press releases, and even complete e-books.

Some clients pay upfront for your material, offering a certain amount per word or per assignment. Others will pay you per the hour for other writing and publishing related tasks such as proof-reading and editing web content.

Freelance writing networks such as "The Freelance Writing Jobs Network" are a great place to start looking for writing jobs and advice. And then there are what I call "freelance matchmaking" sites or "job boards" like Elance.com and Freelancer.com.

On these sites, almost every day, thousands of businesses post various types of writing projects, gigs and requests. If you get aggressive in applying for these open spots, then there's a virtually unlimited supply of writing opportunities that can make you money relatively quickly.

When starting, reply to as many project requests as possible, offer to work at a reasonable rate (but not dirt cheap), and be quick and responsive.

Landing that first gig is always the hardest step, but once you've built up a portfolio and some clientele, you'll get more and more consistent work.

The key to making money with freelance writing is to quickly produce as many quality pieces as you can for your portfolio, and then use job boards and social networking strategies to promote your writing. The more traffic you get to your online work, the more companies you'll have approaching you to write for them.

Here are some additional tips when setting up your portfolio:
  1. Set up a professional web page with your resume, contact information, and some writing samples.
  2. Establish yourself as a reputable, talented freelance writer by submitting only your best quality work to potential clients.
  3. Network with other busy writers who may be able to send extra work your way. Participate in writers forums by writing useful comments and including links to your website and online work.

Making Money with eBay

If writing is not your thing, then hop on over to ebay.com and you can start selling almost anything you can imagine within just minutes.

Imagine having access to 100 million cash-spending buyers. That's exactly the kind of gold mine that's waiting for you on eBay. It has over 100 million registered users, all of whom are out there shopping for great deals.

To become a successful eBay seller, first you must first figure out what to sell. You can sell your own items, check out trade shows in your local area, or search online directories like Doba.com and Alibaba.com to find hot products.

Here's how to get the most out of your ebay listings and auctions:
  1. Create good titles and descriptions, and include quality photos of the items. Write descriptions that stand out, but do not make them obnoxious by using all capital letters or excessive punctuation. Also, be honest about any defects in the items you have for sale.
  2. Consider starting your own eBay store for selling large quantities, since they have a longer run time than typical auctions. Participate in the eBay community and read the forums to stay involved.
  3. Other ways to get traffic to your auctions and items for sale include creating an page on eBay and linking to your auctions from other sites. You also could register a domain name dedicated solely to promoting your own auctions.

Once you find a hot product, keep selling it, and then gradually find more and more products you can promote. Over time, your income will grow exponentially.

How to Make Money with Your Own Blog

Blogging is another easy way to make money online. The secret to profitable blogging is to focus on a particular that is, your area of expertise or a very specific subject that is popular in the search engines.

Here's how to get started blogging:
  1. Like freelance writing, you should approach blogging with the intent to write unique, quality content. Offering useful information and establishing yourself as a trustworthy resource to your readers will quickly lead to lots of word-of-mouth traffic to your blog. Readers can tell if you do not know what you are talking about, so do your research and focus on producing quality content.
  2. Starting a blog is as simple as getting a free account at Wordpress.com, Blogger.com, or another blog hosting site. You can also pay for a domain name and hosting services if you want to personalize your blog even more. I suggest you start with the free options. (editor's note: Wordpress.com frowns on affiliate links, Blogger doesn't.)
  3. Once you have established your blog, then you can focus on monetizing it by incorporating relevant ads through advertising networks like Google AdSense or Chitika. Affiliate programs such as Amazon also are becoming increasingly popular ways to earn extra revenue. In addition, you could sell private ads or review products on your blog.
  4. Promote your blog by utilizing social networking opportunities such as LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter, and blogging forums. If you're creative, then you'll find endless opportunities to promote your blog throughout these social communities.
Freelance writing, selling on eBay, and blogging are only three of the many ways to make money online. They might require an initial investment of time and effort, but you are likely to see some quick income and even huge profits in the long run if you follow these hints.

Make money online - Flipping Websites, Clickbank, and Google Adsense

In today's post, we bring you this article by Anthony Trister - who developed the Coffee Shop Millionaire brand.

In this article, he discusses some online income sources which may or may not be familiar to you: Flipping Websites, Clickbank, and Google Adsense.

I have a disclaimer about this article right off: none of these by themselves will really replace your day job. These three ideas are simply ways to get started. You'll still need to know the background information about how these various strategies can actually start generating money for you.

I offer free lessons for An Online Sunshine Plan - where you learn the nuts and bolts of Honest Internet Marketing.  I've been where you are now, and worse - believe me. And before you dive in and sink a lot of time or money into "getting rich quick", you should really test the temperature of that water. Again: free lessons for learning honest Internet marketing.

Additional caveats:

  • With Flipping Websites, you really need some background in how websites are designed and what people think is valuable in them. If they are already configured for Adsense, that's a plus, but you also have to know their PR rank and general traffic. Best is to get them producing money for you so you have statistics to show. Site Build It! has some incredible free tutorials down this line.
  • Clickbank is affiliate marketing. All the goods here are digital downloads. And your best bet is to study up on using Clickbank from several sources to most effectively monetize this source.
  • Google Adsense is way over-rated for making any income. It's turned out to be a minor money-maker for just high-traffic blogs. Check out reviews of people who have done this before you sink a lot of time into designing your website around these ads.
- - - -

Need a little extra cash in these tough economic times? If so, then you may have just found a gold mine, because this article will show you ways to make money online - sitting in your own home, and with virtually no expense to you!

Make Money Flipping Websites

Ever heard of flipping houses? Flipping websites is basically the same process, only WAY cheaper and faster!

Here's how to get started:
  1. Buy An Existing Web Property- Sites like Flippa.com, forums.digitalpoint.com, Sitepoint.com, and many other online website auctioneers have plenty of them.
  2. Fix Er Up- Do a little research on the website's niche, and then figure the best way to make the site better. It varies based on site, but sometimes just fixing up the theme or adding pictures (royalty free images at iStockphoto.com for cheap) can drastically help. (Editor's note: Again, check out Site Build It! for free tutorials in this area.)

Another thing you could do is add an interactive forum. You can create one using web forum software like Vbulletin.com. Or you could build a subscriber list by adding an email optin form, which you can create with free services like Mailchimp.com. The more subscribers or active members in the forum, the more you'll be able to sell your site for later!
  3. Flip It- Now go back to an auction site and sell the site for more than you bought it for. Expect to buy basic, but decent looking sites for $20-$50, and sell them for $100-$300!

How to Make Clickbank Cash

Clickbank.com is basically the number 1 place for ebooks and digital download products. For potential buyers Clickbank is a great way to find good, usable information on pretty much any topic you can imagine--from dating advice, to health advice, and a ton more.

For affiliates like yourself, Clickbank is a great way to make cash. Here is how it all works:

1. Sign Up and Do Some Product Research - To start, you will need an account. That's easy to get, just sign up at Clickbank.com. Then you should start researching a "niche". Focus on something specific. For example, instead of just "golf" try finding a product on "stopping golf slices".

2. More Research, Get Links - Once you've done some initial market research and found a few, specific products, narrow it down to your top 1 or 2. Review the sales page, and check out the Gravity of the product (Gravity basically indicates what is selling right now). Usually, the higher the Gravity, the better the chance you have to make a sale.

Try out the product yourself if you can, and always ask for review copies. Talk to the vendor himself. If the vendor isn't professional and responsive, then that may indicate its not a very good product to promote.

You want to make sure people who buy from them (through you) are satisfied. After you know your winner, get the affiliate link by following Clickbank's easy to use instructions located in the "Clickbank Marketplace".

3. Promote!- Finally, you just need to promote your new affiliate product. One of the best ways is writing articles about your niche topic, and then posting your affiliate link in the resource box.

But if you want more exposure, create an email list, and promote it to the list of interested, targeted subscribers. You can also join forums in the niche, and have a signature link to your website. Don't be spammy and constantly try to sell in forums. Rather, just be yourself and try to be as helpful as possible.

Make Serious Dollars with Google Adsense

Not interested in selling? Don't worry, there are ways to make money without selling a thing. One is Google Adsense. Ever see those ads on the side of Google or in the side panel of a website? That's Adsense.

Basically, you just have to direct visitors to your site, who in turn click on those ads displayed within its pages, and you get money! Here's the skinny on Adsense:

  1. Set up a niche website with Adsense - Choose a niche, get a domain, then sign up at Adsense.com. Get a free blog from Wordpress.org.
  2. Be Informative- Fill the blog with interesting content by writing articles, posting youtube and other videos, interview experts in your niche. The more interesting your articles and videos, the better.
  3. Promote- Get traffic back to your site with social bookmarking, social media, ping directories, article and RSS feeds, etc. The more you promote, the more traffic you get, which means more money, how sweet is that?!
  4. Get Paid- Finally, add Adsense to your blog! You can really do this at any time, its not hard and there are even plugins if you use Wordpress to manage the ads. Make sure you place your ads in highly visible positions on your site. The higher your click-through-rate (CTR) the more you stand to make!
Extra: As mentioned above, you can even sell your site if it starts making you money with Adsense.

So now you have an idea of what you can do to make money online. Feel like you've got a good chance? I hope so, because creating wealth online is very straightforward, just choose one of the methods above and get to work!

Podcasting, Teaching, and Newsletters can Earn You Income

Anthony Trister
In this article, we discuss some interesting approaches to earning income online: Podcasts, Online Newsletters, and Teaching.

Now none if of this by itself will help you to really replace your day job. These three ideas are simply ways to get started. You'll still need to know the background data about how these various strategies can actually start generating money for you.

That's where I'd recommend taking the free lessons for An Online Sunshine Plan - where you learn the nuts and bolts of Honest Internet Marketing

I've been where you are now, and worse - believe me. And before you dive in and sink a lot of time or money into "getting rich quick", you should really test the temperature of that water.

And our article today comes from Anthony Trister

Making money online is a matter of finding an audience who you can either advertise to or receive direct payment from. Either way, you need something interesting or informative with which to catch and hold your readers' attention. Your content is everything.

I'll show you how you can make money presenting and distributing content via podcast or a newsletter, and how you can connect directly with your audience as an online tutor.

Getting Paid To Podcast

To create a podcast, you will need a microphone and some recording software. If you have a camera, you can also produce video podcasts.

You can download a free recording program from audacity.sourceforge.net, where you will also find tutorials on the technical side of podcasting.

When you have the content and are able to produce good quality podcasts, you need listeners. You can find them by submitting your podcast to directories such as podcastalley.com, promoting it through a website or blog, or advertising in forums and newsletters.

The bigger your market, the better. Don't be afraid of competitive markets, they're big for a reason--they pay and people are listening!

You will then be able to make money by finding a sponsor who is willing to pay to reach your listeners. You could find your own advertisers, or join a podcasting network such as podtrac.com.

If your content is desirable enough, you can charge for access to it, through services such as iTunes (apple.com/itunes). If you are selling your podcast, however, it is a good idea to create a free content version too in order to reach new listeners.

How To Get Paid To Publish Online Newsletters

Even if you prefer the written word to audio podcasting, you will still need to take care of some technical details.

The best way to distribute newsletters is through an autoresponder list service. These can be set up to automatically deliver pre-written emails to subscribers at set intervals. Each new subscriber will receive all of the emails in your predetermined sequence. That means you can load up a year's worth of content (or more), and it'll automatically publish straight to your subscribers' email boxes without you touching it again!

A free autoresponder can be downloaded from responders.com, while a more professional program can be bought from aweber.com. These programs will also help with managing your subscriber list, so you stay spam compliant.

A successful newsletter will be attractive, easy to read, and compatible with different computers and internet browsers. You can create beautiful PDF documents using a free program such as openoffice.com.

Also, you do not have to create all your own content. You can get free stock photos and articles from sites such as publicdomainimages.net and ezinearticles.com. You can also pay for pre-written content from sites like associatedcontent.com.

Email newsletters are perfect for marketing your own products, if you are running an online business. You can also make money by selling space to advertisers or even charging for subscriptions.

By using the tools from services such as aweber.com, you can grow your online newsletter list to hundreds or even thousands of people.

Get Paid To Teach People All Over the World

If you have knowledge and experience to share then you can do so in a podcast or newsletter, or by writing content for a site such as demandstudios.com, who will pay for articles.

Alternatively, you can become an online tutor and communicate directly with students through video chat and email. You could find your own students by advertising your services on craigslist.org, or join a company who will pair you up with suitable learners.

In order to get the best jobs, you may need some relevant qualifications, such as a degree, proven experience in a particular field, or a teaching certificate of some kind.

Websites that recruit online teachers include universalclass.com, mytutor24.com, and tutor.com. Wiziq.com has a teacher directory where you can describe yourself and potential students can find you.

How marketing and the real world operates.

While I was digging around in some metaphysical points,  I got curious and had to dig up an old post I did years ago. What I was looking for at the time were the mathematical descriptions of action. Just action as a concept.

Once you figure out that you are pushing your own purpose forward, you run into very predictable situations. And these are described by the bell curve. And those old posts cover this far more than I need to go into here.

The point is more modernly that you create your own success, that the world around you only tells your progress up to this point - it really isn't in charge of your life. You have an unlimited ability to create - and this is what makes your present change (or not.)

T. Harv Eker covers this in his book "Secrets of the Millionaire Mind", where he has a simple diagram which shows that the spiritual, mental, and emotional affect the physical. He laid out that the physical simply reflects the work you do in the other three - much like a print-out (or our own computer screens). If you don't like what's around you, then change your outlook, what you think, how you feel about it. Same thing those teachers in "The Secret" all said. Over and over and over.

Success is determined by how little you pay real attention to the universe around you for your motivations, and how much you generate faith in your own creative Self.

- - - -

Now, here's all those graphs and links to who's talking about them (just to tie up loose ends...)

First, the Everett Rogers Technology Adoption Lifecycle model - shows where sales are happening, as well as utilization of product.

And then you plug in the Gartner Hype Cycle, which has more to do with how we market our products to each other and get them into actual use.

Now Seth Godin (as part of his book "The Gap") is telling people that there is a similar curve just before this one. And people who drop into the "gap" in between have some major problems.

When you marry these up (as Trashmarketing did), you start seeing how these fit together. (Sorry, their graphic was reproduced at full size.)

All very interesting data. And of course, you can get fascinated with all this stuff and look all these theories up and so on.

However,  you can also easily drop-kick all of this with simple Silva-Levenson work. But it's an interesting set of observations about how the "real world" tends to operate.

A shorter approach: "Ignore the world around you and Create a new one."

And even shorter: "Just Be."

Here's the Online Millionaire System

Online Millionaire System

Basic point is that the OMP-basics book seems to cover everything a person needs to get started. Only other point is that I would include what I've found recently about blogs and the relationship of social media. To blog, you have to have an area of interest. The intent is what is important. (And that is covered in An Online Sunshine Plan.)

Now the below is fairly technical, being mostly a set of notes to myself - but I know you'd be interested, so I'm releasing it broadly.  It's intensely short-handed. I've already covered it in the books and opt-in lessons linked above. (Or go to http://worstelldesign.com/lessons)

Looks like the simple scene would be:

0. Figure out what you like to talk about all the time.
00. Learn the basics of copy-writing and what helps people decide to buy.
1. Keyword research to find a niche within that to start from.
2. Get domain name.
3. Get hosting with cpanel
4. Set up a CMS for the main pages that can be installed via fantastico.
5. Set up a blog in a subdirectory or subdomain.
6. Install analytics and any needed plugins (just the needed
7. Get basic pages up (About, Contact, legal pages, main categories) plus 5 or 10 posts up based on the keywords you found in your research.
8. Find affiliate products (or own self-produced products) which you can link to.
9. Go back through those pages and posts and revise these to link into your affiliate offerings.
10. Set up Onlywire, ping.fm accounts - then go back and get all these announced to the world.
11. Set up Pixelpipe accounts for later promotion (optional)
12. Get article re-writer and learn to do variations of your existing content.
13. Set up an auto-responder account (paid)
14. Set up opt-in forms for various newsletters (work) or giveaways (less work)
15. Set up article directory accounts with the major directories and submit varied content to each as you go. (3 or 4 articles which deep-link back to your original post and any opt-in landing/sales page.
16. Set up Google Alerts to bring you data for content.
17.  Continue researching keywords in your niche to find out data about your topic area - and as well where to leave comments with back-links.
18. Convert your content to PDF's (ebooks) and post these to scribd.com, slideshare.net, and doc-stoc.com - ensure you leave links in your description back to the key pages you want people to visit (preferably deep-linked.)
19. Create a powerpoint presentation and record the audio to match (a webinar). Post audio to archive.org and powerpoint to slideshare.net - then combine these to make a slidecast there. Again, deep-link back to your key pages in the description.
20. Use the slides (coverted to images) and audio to create a video (Camtasia or XP Movie-Maker) and use Pixelpipe to post these.
21. For all new post, consider multi-publishing them as varied articles, pdf's, powerpoints, slidecasts, and video. Comment market every post to get backlinks. (All of these get backlinks.)
22. Get a Synnd subscription (paid). Synnd every new post you make, including posting to article directories through them.
23. Compile a newsletter of your posts and send to your list, along with additional affiliate products you've checked out.
(Idea here: do reviews of products and post to your blog.)
24, Set up a schedule to include these targets weekly:
   a. Review analytics.
   b. Continuing content research, including keyword reviews on subjects you find - to only talk about niches as part of a broader subject.
   c. Main pages to your CMS for your products and landing pages as well. Blog posts to cover details in an entertaining, educational, or enlightening fashion. Synnd each page.
   d. Comment market those pages and posts.
   e. Multi-publish your content to article directories, doc storage sites, video sites, podcast hosts.  Onlywire all of these.
   f. Use that content to create new giveaways or newsletters.
   g. Weekly or bi-weekly send out a message to your list with offers they can actually use to improve their lives.

For me, this pushes people back to finding their own motivations in life and what they want to do with it. And I simply align everything to just that - telling people they can improve their lives with what I've found.

Now, you extend your main CMS downward into additional related sub-niches. Currnent work on this is to create a new category with additional pages and sub-pages on your CMS - or simply sub-pages if your niche is broad enough. (You can simply blog about the data you find and cross-link the pages and posts within each other.) Or go ahead and make a subdirectory with it's own set of mini-pages which are cross-linked. (Use a little mini-CMS like Zimplit or just hard-code these in an editor such as Kompozer. If you are more savvy, get into using a php-based CMS like onefilecms or pulse.)

How big you get is all how interested you are in your niche - and how much you like to talk about it.

- - - -

The point to this is that it’s all mechanics. And that doesn’t get you rich.

The trick is to completely re-program yourself into becoming a millionaire.

And that is the rest of the score.

Just put it together myself. Thought it a good idea to let you know.

- - - -

As of this point, I'm going onto my own passion, which is cartooning. And you'll see me use all of the above in promoting these - including re-programming myself.

Backtrack me through my other blogs and sites and you'll see why.

One sized self-help doesn't fit all.

Guest Article - by Dr. Robert C. Worstell

Of course, this is how the self-help industry fits the definition of a scam: (whine) "I didn't get what I expected (or was sold)." And while reputable distributors honor repayments quickly, it still doesn't help that you didn't get what you wanted.

Because self help is supposed to do something for you. Something you can apply yourself to your self and improve in some way.

It doesn't work when you aren't able to change what you had your hopes on - or had all your attention tied up in.

And that is the same problem that enlightenment has. What works for one guru doesn't necessarily work for his followers. So many of these guys keep talking and writing and videoing in the hope that something they say will resonate and strike a chord so that reader or listener can then piece together their own path "up the mountain".

The problem, as usual, lies within ourselves, not external to us.

Most of these self-help authors and guru's only fail not in making themselves rich, but in helping you to do so. And that is why they sometimes get the label scammer. Not because what they say doesn't work - it just doesn't work for everyone.

And the people who never figure this out can fill libraries with the books and CD's or DVD's that they buy on a regular basis looking for the "one way" which will set them free.

Unfortunately, that "one way" is already inside them. And it's as individual and specific as every person out there. For if we were all the same, it would be just too easy for any or all of us to get clear on what we really want and need - and manifest or attract these at will.

But it isn't that easy. Because no one is around to tell you exactly what you should be doing next on your own path to enlightenment.

Many find that unless they continue to attend these various seminars, or plug in their audio CD's, or listen regularly to downloaded MP3's, that they will lose what they already gained and "backslide".

Of course, this is just more hogwash, rubbish, junk, you name it. (Or sometimes referred to as "Internet Marketing".)

Look - the gains you've made are yours forever. Whatever you have found already that works for you will continue to work for you from here on out. Nothing can change that effectiveness except you - by changing your own faith in the tools you found.

And faith, as Napoleon Hill covers, is internally created. No one can take your faith away from you - except you.

The bottom line to all self-help and personal improvement material is that you are invited to restore your own personal faith in your self.

Of course, we've all been taught many different ways to not do this - to simply continue in battering our ways through life, despite all obstacles thrown in our way. And we constantly evaluate for others and defend ourselves from potential attacks...

But that whole scenario I just described is a lie. None of that really exists. All that fiction we've swallowed is really designed to limit our own beliefs in ourselves and those around us so that we won't ever trust any truly workable technique that we encounter. Yes, it's all a conspiracy to keep you down. Feel better now?

Of course, I can say this because I've been studying this stuff most of my life. And most intensively over the past decade. Yes, I've collected a small library and published even more of these so others could find them. And I've spent most of that life being "scammed" by various organizations and individuals when I found that their stuff "didn't work."

The breakthrough I had recently - which is what I'm sharing with you today - is that there is just no "one size fits all" self-help system which works for every individual. Again, it's due to us being "individuals".

So I'll tell you that my own way of getting enlightened went through many self help authors, such as Hill above, Wallace Wattles, Thomas Troward, Charles F. Haanel, Dorothea Brande, Earl Nightingale - and many others. And I got a little (or great) something from each of one. And these lead to Lester Levenson and more recently to Marshall Rosenburg. As well,  along this route, there were side-jaunts to investigate Jose Silva and his protege' Burt Goldman, as well as Serge Kahili King of Huna fame - among others.

Somewhere along the line, I got enlightened. And as Alan Watts described, simply went back to what I was doing before. I just stepped back over that thin line and kept writing and blogging and making videos.

But that was my own route, my own path. It was simple once I found it, but what I did isn't the same thing you will have to do for yourself.

The funny part is, you'll find as you look around (carefully and honestly) that there are a great deal more people who have found and stepped over that thin line of enlightenment than you may have ever considered. And they're there - all in plain sight. Just like most of these self-help "secrets".  You only have to consider that you can find them and either start looking or start listening.

It's my humble opinion that you are going to have to tailor your own traveling suit. You are going to have to cobble your own shoes to do that walking. All the materials and tools are sitting there - just waiting for you to do so.

And that is my gift to you. Enjoy your life and start living it for real. Because just as everything you need to improve your own life is sitting out there right in front of you - it is just as true that only you will be able to pick from that smorgasbord of working philosophies and systems to build your own path that you need to walk.

One size doesn't fit all - but when you make your own, it's tailored just for your own success.

Know these facts about Internet Marketing:

  • 97% of what you find on the Internet about online marketing is bunk.
  • It may have worked for someone under certain special situations, but it probably won't work for most people.
  • What people call marketing itself is a crock.

You have to go back to the historical origins and operations of markets in order to understand why the Internet is wising up shoppers and making it nearly impossible for "college-trained marketing experts" to actually make any money online. If you aren't doing what you love, and what you know will actually help people - you are doomed to failure, regardless of any fast or hard bucks you make right off the bat.
